I am thrilled to share that this week, February 27 to March 3, is Public School Week. This week of recognition allows us to consider the incredible impact of our public schools on our communities, including here at Mora Public Schools.
Our schools help prepare students for the rest of their lives, giving them the knowledge and skills to participate in our democracy, take on jobs in an increasingly competitive world, and continue to learn and thrive well into the future.
Most of all, Public Schools Week represents a celebration of the promise of schools as places where every child - no matter their situation - is welcomed and celebrated.
Here at Mora Public Schools, we are especially proud of the academic and extra-curricular activities we provide our students. Mora schools is an educational leader in East Central Minnesota in many ways.
There are so many amazing things happening in our classrooms and buildings on a daily basis. We remain grateful for the people who have dedicated their lives to preparing students for the future.
We look forward to celebrating Mora Public Schools with our entire community this week!
Sincerely,
Dan Voce
Superintendent

MHS students have been creating paintings, pottery, drawing, and much more!
Owners of Northwoods Steakhouse, Shayne and Mindy Johnson hosted a Giving Tree this past holiday season where they collected donations of money, warm clothing, and bedding. Shayne and Mindy heard about the needs of some of our students in the Mora School District and generously shared all of their donations.
Mora Schools' students received many pairs of warm mittens, hats, scarves, blankets, sets of bedding, shoes, jackets, and robes for The Rack (a clothing source for students), as well as an absolutely incredible monetary donation to our Food for Friends (a student food shelf). We are entirely grateful for your thoughtfulness, generosity, and commitment to our community!

For the past few years we've been entering our fall plays and spring musicals in the Hennepin Theatre Trust's Spotlight Education program. As a part of that they evaluate our shows, give voluminous comments(!), and award honors to students involved. MHS is proud to announce award that we received this morning. Congratulate the students who were honored if you see them.

Juniors and Seniors can earn college credit right at Mora High School. Many students are able to transfer a year's worth of college credit to their post-secondary choice after graduation.
College in the Schools (CIS) is an educational program for Minnesota high school students. It allows students to take college level classes in their high school and, as a result, earn college and high school credit free. The classes are taught by high school teachers who receive several weeks of additional training by the University.
In January/February students will start the process for registering for 23-24 classes. Be sure to discuss with your student what they have planned for the future and if taking a college class or two would benefit them. Not everyone is interested in going to college but still may want to challenge themselves. Mora also offers several CTE courses that may spark an interest in your student. Construction, Automotive, Welding, Design, Agriculture and so much more is also available to students.
