Mora Public Schools offers an alternative program for 7th and 8th grade
students. The program is designed for students struggling with
academics, attendance, and/or social skills. An ALC includes academics
paired with hands-on projects and the development of a close working
relationship between parent, student and teacher.
Qualifiers:
7th & 8th grade students

Low MCA Scores
Social Skill Challenged
Poor Attendance
Referral:

Recommendation to SAT

Program Expectations:
90% Attendance
Positive behavior
Grades of C or better in all classes
Contracts:
· If student fails to meet expectations a parent/student/teacher meeting will be called and student will be put on a contract.
· Student may be on only two contracts at the same time. (Contracts expire after 6 weeks)
· If student requires a third contract they will be exited from the program.
Academics
Standards based instruction is met through:
· Study Island (Online Curriculum)- Student works independently
· Various Hands on projects-
Monarch Butterfly Project, Aquaponics, Bench Building, Maple Syruping,
School Garden, Individual student interest projects
· Differentiated Instruction to meet individual needs/strengths
Social Skill Development
· Team Building and Cooperative learning integrated throughout the day

I have been teaching for 18 years, 11 of which have been
working in Middle Level Alternative settings. I enjoy the opportunity
to develop relationships with kids in a smaller classroom setting to
help them realize their true potential.
